What makes the Breville BOV800XL Smart Oven special
So, what makes the Breville BOV800XL Smart Oven so special? Well apart from its stylish stainless steel finish, its 0.8 cu ft capacity can accommodate 6 slices of toast at one time, it is also large enough for a 13″ pizza.
But that’s not what you want to know is it? You want to know about its Element IQ technology which allows you to apply the heat exactly where it is required and for how long, depending of course, on what you are cooking. The 9 pre-set programs are Toast, Bagel, Roast, Broil, Pizza, Cookies, Reheat and Warm.
You can of course override these settings, and, if you choose to do so, the Breville Smart Oven will remember them for the next time you use it. Element IQ works rather like a dimmer on a light switch, you can raise or lower the heat at the turn of a knob.
The oven has five quartz heating elements plus a convection fan and each of the 9 settings controls which of the elements are used and how much heat is delivered from them.
The toast setting for example delivers 1800-watts, 900 from the top and 900 from the bottom. For the bagel function the smart oven switches off the bottom two elements because they are not needed. The baking function distributes 1500-watts and also uses the convection fan.
Breville Smart Oven Operation
The oven is easily operated from its blue back-lit control panel where all the settings can be clearly seen, and its temperature and time control knobs. It has three wire racks, the middle one of which has an auto eject feature for safe removal from the oven of hot foods. The top surface can also be used as a warming tray. It also has a removable crumb tray for easy cleaning.
